The Story of the First Website

The very first website in the world was born in 1989 and was dedicated to the World Wide Web project itself! It was developed by British scientist Tim Berners-Lee while he was working at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research.

This historical website was hosted on Berners-Lee's NeXT computer and can still be accessed today at info.cern.ch. Though a far cry from the interactive experiences we know today, it holds significant value as the foundation of the digital landscape we utilize daily.

Though not truly public until 1993, this website represents a crucial milestone in the evolution of the internet, showcasing the initial vision and technology that paved the way for the World Wide Web as we know it.
